What I enjoyed the most from History class that helped get us prepared for our renaissance exhibition was doing Mental floss! Mental Floss required a lot of hard work and time but it’s the quickest way to learn a lot about history. It was always satisfying seeing my hard work on the study guides pay off! In English, I liked getting to really get to know my character. The Oral presentation we did in front of the class of all that we knew from our character was very helpful. In math, I enjoyed researching about Renaissance games because it was something very different from what we were doing in the all of our other classes. It was very interesting to learn kinds of games that we still use today. In art, I enjoyed recreating renaissance paintings because I’m not the best at doing very detailed drawing. I recreated the Portrait I’d Morigia and it was my first time drawing the human hand so it gave me a good chance to practice shading and detail. In Spanish, we got a lot of free time which was very helpful when it came to extra work that I needed to catch up on, creating my game, etc. I think the most challenging part of the entire project was trying to stay on top of all of the different assignments was the most difficult & actually putting together our space. I just wish we had a bit more time to really collect supplies and make our more detailed visions come to life. As far as assignments go, they were all so fast-paced, especially with art, art for me takes so long to do (even simple things) because I’m such a beginner so it was hard to keep up with everything when I had to keep restarting and finally came up with a product that maybe wasn’t good in comparison to the rest of my class. Something that would've helped is 1 less assignment in each class and more time to set up the exhibition space so there's a bit more room for error. My first draft of my poem received some critique on my writing piece from my tablemates but the critique didn’t seem that helpful. I wrote a poem that had a fair share of being straightforward and being more metaphorical and the people at my table didn’t really get the point of the poem so I tried to revise it to make more sense. I presented my poem twice on the main stage and the first time I did it, there were many adults around who seemed to like it a lot. I’m very proud of my written piece because I think it has a nice balance, it’s very intense which is how I imagined my character would be but it’s also saying how painting brings life to her world. I just don’t think I could’ve done much better with it. I’m happy with how I did during the exhibition because I presented my poem twice on the main stage, as stated previously, and I even interacted with some of the other guilds in the room to add some more conversation to the room whenever I thought it was getting quiet. I never really interacted much with guests, however, I would say Olde English greetings to people in passing which I think helped people feel a bit more immersed. I think the Mental Floss tests really helped with understanding the lasting impact of the Renaissance because I remember how surprised I was when I found out exactly how many things came from the renaissance.
